  • RRB ALP Syllabus and Exam Pattern

    The Railway Recruitment Board conducts the Assistant Loco Pilot Exam every year to recruit candidates for this post. The ALP syllabus has been released by the RRB.This RRB ALP exam gives a great opportunity to the candidates to secure a good position under the Central Government of India.This article is about the detailed RRB ALP Syllabus for the exam which consists of a vast number of concepts and topics.

    The RRB ALP Exam pattern is crucial before understanding the syllabus.
    The RRB ALP Exam pattern is as follows:
    The RRB ALP Exam has 2 stages-

    1. CBT 1st stage
    2. CBT 2nd stage
      1. Part A
      2. Part B

    The 1st stage CBT will be a common exam for ALP/Technician whereas the 2nd stage CBT will be only for ALP Exam.

    The Exam Pattern for RRB ALP Exam is as follows:

    1st stage CBT 75 60 min
    2nd stage CBT- PART A 100 90 min
    2nd stage CBT- PART B 75 60 min

    The topics covered in the RRB ALP Exam are as follows:

    2. General Intelligence & Logical Reasoning
    3. Basic Science & Engineering
    4. General Awareness on Current Affairs

    RRB ALP syllabus

    The syllabus structure for RRB ALP has been released for the year exam and is expected to be the same for RRB ALP  examination.

    The RRB syllabus contains various topics related to different concepts.

    The RRB ALP syllabus for CBT 1 is as follows:

Mathematics Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
    2. General Intelligence and Reasoning Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
    3. General Science Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of the 10th standard level.
    4. General awareness & current affairs Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics.

    There are two parts of the syllabus for the CBT 2 Exam.

    The Assistant Loco Pilot CBT 2 syllabus is given below:

    3. Basic Science & Engineering Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.
    4. General awareness & current affairs Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics.

    The part B of the Assistant Loco Pilot CBT 2 syllabus is a bit different from the other sections of the ALP Exam.

    The Assistant Loco Pilot  syllabus is expected to be the same as the previous years.

    But, aspirants must be updated with the latest news on ALP for any changes to be notified.

    Important Pointers related to Part B – CBT 2 exam:

    • Qualifying Marks for CBT 2 Part B is 35 % (This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible)
    • This part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by the Director-General of Employment & Training (DGET).
    • Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade.
    • Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC (10+2).
